Brave heART is all about empowering ourselves to step out of our comfort zone to express what is in our hearts. This expression can take many forms, not only in creating ART, but in our actions and deeds when interacting with the world.
Generally, fear holds us back from expressing what is in our hearts. Fear of rejection, fear of criticism, or the fear of the unknown. “There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth: not going all the way, and not starting” (Buddha). We can apply this concept to most life scenarios.
Recently, our family experienced a devastating loss. Ed was a beautiful soul who left us way too soon. He was an explorer, nature lover, teacher, son, and friend to so many. He seemed to fear nothing as he sped down many mountains via bike or snowboard jumping and sliding or as he skied or surfed….anything that with the element of breathtaking danger. In whatever he did, he was ALL IN and I was in awe of his adventurous spirit.
None of us can understand the journey of others, but I will always remember Ed and take inspiration from his Brave Heart. I will think of him when trying to get out of my own way during my creating process. I will challenge myself to move forward with my journey and be ALL IN. I challenge you to do the same.
It’s not a matter of how confident we are or aren’t… it maybe as simple as not knowing where to start or the desire to create something perfect…. We don’t need to be perfect. When we accept the fact that imperfection is beautiful, we can begin to express ourselves freely, bravely. So, this series is all about empowering ourselves to be Brave.
Come on, let’s create. Be kind to one another and to yourself.
